to Chequered Flag, the first open-source attempt to create a
completely universal editor for Geoff Crammond's Formula One Grand Prix
/ World Circuit. The long-term goal of the project is to incorporate
all editing facilities, both current and future in this program.
Despite the age of the game, Formula One Grand Prix / World Circuit still has a strong fan-base and individuals who desire to improve the game beyond what was natively available. Over the years, extensive attempts have been made to achieve this with both successes and failures. A significant number of failed projects have been the result of a lack of time available to programmers involved. For this reason, it is believed that the development of an open-source editor will allow a collaborative attempt to produce an editor rather than the singular approach mainly used up until now. The creation of this project is a natural offshoot of this belief.
There is a substantial amount of work to be completed during the development of this editor. We are always looking for new developers to help us in the construction of this program. If you would like to help out in this project, please feel free to contact us. We would be grateful for any help you could provide.
Many pages on this site link to locations on the Chequered Flag project page. When navigating through these links, you will therefore move away from this site. It would be preferable if this site remained accessible while the other locations were being navigated. However, the task of achieving this has not yet been undertaken. For now, it is recommended that you open external links in a new window if you wish to return to this site.
